Simon Says: Lets Talk Coffee

If you’re like me, you might love the occasional coffee because the smell of a fresh cup is second to none. Some like it black, others sweetened and iced. Regardless of how you take it, there’s always a bit of a trade off with coffee and that’s the crash or withdraw that comes when you are dependent on your regular fix.

Well, here are some other ways you can supplement that craving and keep you energized while reducing those negative side effects of our coffee addiction:

  • Explore a wide range of herbal teas such as chamomile, peppermint or ginger as they can provide a soothing and flavorful alternative to coffee.

  • Green teas contains caffeine but it has a lower amount compared to coffee. It also contains L-theanine, which can provide a calming effect and a more gradual energy boost.

  • If you enjoy the taste of coffee but want to reduce your caffeine intake, opt for decaffeinated coffee. It retains the flavor but has significantly less caffeine.

  • You can also replace your morning cup of coffee with a refreshing glass of freshly squeezed juice or a nutrient-packed smoothie. This can provide natural sugars and vitamins to kickstart your day.

  • Engaging in exercise, stretching, or a quick walk can naturally boost your energy levels and increase blood circulation, helping you feel more awake and focused. Sometimes, fatigue can be caused by dehydration so just drink ample amount of water throughout the day can help you stay alert and combat tiredness.

  • Finally we may not need coffee if you sleep enough. A consistent sleep schedule and a relaxing bedtime routine can contribute to better energy levels during the day!
